Resisting the Crowd

Middle school is a drama shark tank. Okay, that did sound weird, but I hope you get what I mean here. Secrets are flying around and you don’t really know who to trust. Plus, there’s the whole thing of what’s in style and what isn’t. Resisting what other people tell you is hard. For instance, the most popular girl in school comes in with mascara on. The first thing you’ll probably want to do is go home and steal your mom’s mascara. Well, don’t! Unless you feel like you want to do it, don’t just do it because everyone else is. Be you! Here are a few tips:

Limit your social media. What? I know, right? Social media is an instant boost to your social life! It’s okay to have the little media’s like or Instagram, but besides that, stay OFF. Everything else is drama town.

Group Chats. The mother of all evil. Now, I’m not telling you to quit group chats entirely. I’m just saying, limit how many group chats you’re on. At my school, all of the popular kids have a huge group chat (which I was told I couldn’t be on 😡) and, honestly, I don’t really want to be on it that much anymore. You will get sucked into so much drama, trust me.

Convo Caution. Careful what you talk about. Saying the wrong thing can A) start a rumor about someone or B) start a rumor about you! Whether the rumor is true or not, you probably don’t want it out there either way. So, if you’re planning to talk about something private, text it on a private chat or use the girls’ bathroom.

Trust Tips. Always be careful of who you trust. Observe. Make sure you know the person really well before you decide whether to trust them or not. To be honest, keep your secrets confined to a small group of people and just don’t share them with anyone else, regardless of whether you can trust them or not.

That’s all for today guys! If you have any questions, I think you can comment, I’m not really sure.

  1. Very good advice! I would add to just be you—awesome, beautiful, unique you! Regarding sharing information-remember that you can’t make anyone keep something secret. They may promise to do so, and they may even try, but you can’t make them keep your secrets. So, if you don’t want something to become public knowledge, keep it to yourself!
