So today was pretty good. We woke up at around seven and went downstairs for breakfast. I just had sausage, pineapple, and cranberry juice. It wasn’t very good, but a girl’s gotta eat, right? So then we headed for New York. It took about an hour and a half to get to the Holland Tunnel, which runs under the Deleware River. The drive through Holland Tunnel was super cool. I was kind of dark, but not quite because of all of the cars.
We made it to the W Hotel. It’s really nice with comfy beds and a window seat. My brother and I claimed the bed closest to the window, but my parents ended up getting it since there was a clock on that side. My dad headed off to work and my mom, my brother and I all went to a Chinese restaurant for lunch. The food was pretty good, but the people there were not really polite. My mom vowed never to eat there again.
Then we tried to find the New York Stock Exchange. It took us a while because security tightened around it and it was tucked away on Wall St. You can buy stock from different companies and sell it for lots of money later on. Apparently, I have five shares of Apple stock so I’ll be saving that for when I really need it.
I got a huge headache while walking around the city. My mom said it was from all of the fumes, cigarette smoke, and noise. She said I’m a country girl, of which I wholly agree. We returned to the hotel and relaxed for about an hour and a half until dinner. We found a Chipotle close by and eat there. You’ll never believe this though: you need a code to use the bathroom there. I was like “what?!” A password?! But I suppose it’s to stop people from using the bathroom who aren’t customers.
We strolled past the memorial pool for 9/11. It’s a gigantic waterfall that memorialized the place where the Twin Towers were located. It goes down and you can look over the rim. On the rim are all the names of the people who died on that day.
Anyway, now I’m at the hotel writing this. The pictures will be on Google+ like last time, so check those out.
See you tomorrow. I think we’re going to a The 911 Museum with some friends from New Jersey. Be sure to return to read about it.
