I’m so sorry I’m doing this so late guys! It’s been a long day and there’s a lot to say, so here goes.
So on the first part of the trip was pretty uneventful. We left the house at around eight in the morning. Then after about a gazillion stops for my mom, we finally made it on the freeway.
The first state we went into was South Carolina. There wasn’t much to see there except highway. It was the same thing in North Carolina as well. So that took about 2-3 hours.
Then we entered Virginia, and that’s where the scenery started. Unfortunately, I can’t add more than one picture to the blog at a time so the rest will be on Lioness Pack’s Google+ page and you can flip through them there. After we stopped for lunch at Subway, my brother had to go pee. I accidentally missed an important rest stop on the Atlas so we had to stop at a dingy gas station for him to pee. My parents had us all get out of the car since we were there. As I sat down on the toilet paper on the toilet, there were some awful words etched into the stall doors. And I had to sit there and stare at them while I peed. And the soap smelled awful too.
Anyway, next we passed into West Virginia for about half an hour and then Maryland for 13 minutes exactly. After those states, we made it to Pennsylvania. According to my mom, the greenery was a bit more…. whassa word….. um neat I guess. That took about 3 hours. Then we stopped at Chipotle for dinner and used the toilet.
We also passed the town of Hershey in Pennsylvania. Yep, the chocolate brand Hershey. It had a factory and an amusement park all named Hershey. It was kinda cool.
Finally, we passed into New Jersey. It’s actually where I was born. So totally coolio. We arrived at our hotel and cleaned out the car and went to bed.
Now I’m going to move into Day two of our trip.
Day Two was pretty eventful. We went to go see the Statue of Liberty and hear all about Ellis Island along the way. I probably would have like to explore Ellis Island without the lady talking in my ear, but hey, it was free. Might as well use it right? Then we ate and hopped on a ferry to go to the Statue of Liberty. Unluckily, my parents made a mistake on the tickets we got, so we weren’t able to go inside, but the outside pictures were fantastic. The main picture that you see, is me standing under the Statue. She’s gigantic, isn’t she?
Well, after all that sightseeing, we went to the gift shop. I got a nice wooden pen, with a Statue of Liberty engravement on it so that was cool. Then the storm clouds started to roll in so we caught the fastest ferry to home. We stopped at Rita’s, which I hadn’t been to in ages. I got an Italian Ice with custard on the top and at the bottom. It was delicious. Then we drove by my old house. The owners weren’t taking very good care of it, but we couldn’t do anything about it. So we drove on to my mom’s friend’s house. We stayed there for a bit, where the mom’s talked about life and kids.
We ate a delicious meal at Cracker Barrel and now I’m at my hotel writing this. Tomorrow, we leave for New York so I’ll see you tomorrow evening.
