Vacation or Stay-cation?

Don’t you just love relaxing at the beach or hiking in the mountains? I love it too, but it’s normally hard for my family to take time off or agree on where to go and what to do. Summer schedules are full of sports, parties and pool time… I would love to do fun things with my family but if they are busy there are a couple ideas for friends too:

  1. Go tubing or whitewater rafting. There are many run-down cheap places that are actually a ton of fun. I went to Helen, GA and did tubing with ” Cool River Tubing” and they even had a waterslide during the trip!
  2. Go to the zoo or aquarium. I love seeing animals and you have probably been somewhere and seen animals before, so bring a group of friends with you!
  3. Go camping! Camping can be really fun, and if you’re not a big fan of sleeping outdoors you can rent an RV and enjoy a couple days of fun.
  4. Go to Callaway Gardens or some other botanical gardens… Butterflies, plants, and discoveries along the way. It’s a way to keep your brain working during the summer.
  5. Water! I love waterparks, pools, beaches, lakes, and anything that can keep you wet… So go on a hike to someplace you can swim or go to a waterpark; I know sometimes a plain pool can become boring. So go on a water adventure!
  6. Hike. I love the mountains and hiking. If you hate walking on dirt trails for soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long; then try finding a shorter trail with a bit of it paved. I once took a 1&1/2 mile trail to a waterfall and it was awesome.
  7. Bowling! Bowling is great for when it’s just too hot outside to enjoy it. Many bowling alleys will offer cheap or free bowling during the summer to get extra business & you should take advantage of that.
  8. Library... I know, I know it’s summer, but that doesn’t mean we should let our brains turn to mush. Try reading one book a month or if you are a more avid reader try a book per week.
  9. Zip lining or ropes course. I love speed and I’m scared of heights but a zip line isn’t scary. Look for one with lower heights, ground to ground, or pictures show NO gloves. I’ve been before so I know what’s more comfortable.
  10. Farmer’s market or craft festival… Bring your money because you’re going to want something! I love homemade desserts and freshly squeezed lemonade at the farmer’s market or cute gifts at the craft festival. You can search on google for markets near you.
  11. Host a PARTY! Let’s party and Not be a party pooper. Many of your friends say they have much to do but when it’s a party NO one wants to miss out and many will fit it into their schedule. I love parties of all kinds like… garden parties, sleepover and stay late, pool parties, hang out parties or movie parties. Don’t forget the FOOD!
  12. Arcade or laser tag. Like bowling, you would come only when it’s too hot or raining hard. I hate being cooped up in the house all day so maybe you could convince your mom to take you here.
  13. Movie night! Huddle in front of the TV with popcorn and candy and enjoy the night.
  14. Make dinner. Sounds like another chore right? But with siblings, your parents may be busy. Show them how mature you are and make a delicious dinner. Here’s a tip… DO NOT make something your siblings hate… they will complain and your parents won’t be able to enjoy the meal.
  15. Explore your town and city and tel us your findings! Please follow us on google+ and Pinterest! Also, we would like suggestions on what the next post is about. See you next week!
